The September 2022 Williamson County Commission meeting will be at the Williamson County Administrative Complex auditorium @ 7:00 PM on Monday, September 12th.

This meeting will be also publicly broadcast on the local public TV stations as well as WC-TV accessible on the county website, as well as on YouTube afterward. Go to WC-TV to live stream. The meeting will be broadcast on Comcast Channel 3, Charter Channel 192, AT&T Channel 99, and United Communications Channel 207.

There are 33 resolutions under consideration in this month’s meeting. 9-22-1 Resolution amending the General Purpose School Budget $282,000 for additional construction costs related to the addition at Summit High School.
20 Yes 3 Abstain by Commissioners Mary Smith, Sanford & Lennox
9-22-2 resolution amending the 2022-23 General Purpose School Budget by $4,000,000 for new construction of a new elementary school on Cox Rd. The budget and education committees have both approved this resolution after amending it by $2,150,000 which is the amount representing road improvements requested by the Planning Commission for added turn lanes at Horton Highway lseveral miles from the new school. This resolution was amended to remove $1.85 Million which was for road improvements on Horton Hwy associated with the new school on Cox Rd.

9-22-3 resolution for the approval of an intent to fund $26,500,000 for the Phase 4 replacement of Page High School to be complete 2023-34. 20 Yes 3 Abstain by Commissioners Mary Smith, Sanford & Lennox
9-22-4 resolution amending the 2022-23 General Purpose School budget of $264,562 for additional human resources and payroll positions. This was unforeseen and is the result of the current job market, school growth, and an unfunded mandate from this federal administration for more Title 9 investigations. 21 Yes 2 Abstain by Commissioners Torres & Stresser
9-22-5  resolution authorizing the contracts for Professional Services for an assessment study of regulations governing on-site sewage disposal systems and related office operations for Williamson County and appropriating and amending the 2022-23 County Mayor’s budget $150,000; revenues to come from Unappropriated County General Funds. I am hopeful that this will result in a streamlined application process with shortened wait times for construction projects requiring septic tanks. 22 Yes 1 Abstain by Commissioners Mary Smith
9-22-19 resolution amending the 2022-23 Election Commission budget $214,600 for unanticipated cost overages for the recent Aug 4th, 2022 General Election & State Primary Election for manpower, maintenance of office and voting, advertising plus other expenses. 23 Yes 0 No
9-22-26 resolution to approve an intent to fund $22,827,694 for certain county general projects in a 2022-23 bond or note issue. Projects are:
Emergency Services Station construction – Burwood $6,628,944
ESS Burwood furnishings, Equip., & Technology $1,018,750
Emergency Services Station Construction – FFUMC $2,680,000
Bethesda Recreation Complex Phase III $12,500,000

9-22-27 resolution appropriating and amending the 2022-23 Capital Projects budget by $1,281,824.63 for a pedestrian cross walk on Hillsboro Rd (SR 106) at Grassland Elementary and Middle schools (State project #94LPLM-3S-135) with revenues to come from grant funds, Highway Privilege tax funds and Williamson County Schools.

Commissioners will take a brief recess to allow paired districts to prepare nominations for the rotating committees which are Rules, Steering, Human Resources & Parks & Recreation.

County Commission meetings are normally held at the Administrative complex at 1320 West Main St., Franklin in the auditorium (East end of bldg) @ 7 PM and generally on the 2nd Mon. of the month. Meeting agendas are available HERE. There is no meeting in December, April, or August. July’s meeting is when the tax rate and budget for the upcoming year are approved.

 

Anyone interested in getting a better understanding of our county resolutions can come to the Budget Committee meetings held on 1st Mondays @ 4:30 pm in the Conference Room across from the County Mayors’ office. In this committee, any resolution with a fiscal consequence is discussed one week prior to being voted on by the Commission as a whole. All Committee meetings are open to the public.
